our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
God created every thing for a
purpose. The Gospel and Music
Association (GAMA) is one
among the plans which God had in His mind to fulfill His purpose in
this world. We believe that God formed this association to
touch the lives of the people, to transform the cities, to shake the
nations by reaching
out. From the day God called us we are acting as a partner
with God in fulfilling His purpose in this world. Now we take
this opportunity to introduce this association to you so that you too
may be a partner in this ministry of reaching out. Romans 8: 28 says
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God,
to those who are called according to His purpose.
Origin
of GAMA:
GAMA was started in the year 2000 with a
great vision to do ‘Holistic
Mission’
to the people in need. Even though it was a meager origin
with just a few members, the growth of GAMA is notable. Now
it has more than 250 members,
out of which a majority are students. GAMA provides the
opportunity for the youth to act as vibrant tools in the Lord’s
vineyard.
Ministry
of GAMA:
GAMA is doing holistic
mission among the
people. GAMA is not only meeting the spiritual needs but also
meeting the physical and mental needs of the people through various
levels of its ministry. Three various levels of ministry are
underway to equip the people to be part of the Kingdom of
God. The spiritual needs of the people are met by GAMA
through annual convention meetings cottage prayer meetings, and so
on. The physical needs of the people are met by arranging
well wishers to help the family those in need. Many of the
students are getting educational aid to continue their
education. The mental needs of the people are identified by
the members during the annual convention and they are brought to the
cottage meeting for counseling. Hence GAMA ministry is well
known among the people for its Holistic quality.
Annual Convention:
From the year it was founded, GAMA is
conducting a huge convention meeting in the Cathedral campus with a
high budget. Approximately every day 5,000 to 7,000 people
attend this meeting.
The last day of every convention is often over crowded and it goes
beyond control. Every year the budget is increasing and the Almighty
God is providing our needs through donors like you.
Cottage Prayer Meeting:
Every Friday evening GAMA conducts cottage
prayer meetings at the head office. Many of the members
attend regularly to enrich their spirituality.
This meeting is conducted in the residence of members as well as in
other houses on request.
Educational Aid:
GAMA is meeting the educational expense of
many of the students. The needy students are identified and
GAMA approaches well wishers to help the students to continue their
education. Notebooks are also distributed by GAMA in several
schools to lessen the burdens of the parents.
Village
Ministry:
Village Ministry is considered to be the
most important ministry of GAMA. Every week a group of people
engage in village ministry. Our goal in village ministry is
not to entertain or merely educate the people, but to bring them to a
place of maturity into Christ-likeness
- both in character and ministry. Doing ministry among the
people of other faiths is very difficult. We cannot go
directly to preach
the word of God. Certain steps need to be followed.
In this ministry, short videos about Christ and Christian life are
used. GAMA uses media, e.g. LCD
projector, for the spreading of the Gospel. Every week GAMA
spends about Rs. 1,000 or more for this. Moreover, we lack
the means of transportation and there is an urgent need to have a
vehicle for its own to enable the ministry to be powerful
in the villages.
Charity
works:
Apart from the educational aid, GAMA is
meeting other needs of the people also. During the time of Christmas,
GAMA conducted special
carol services
and get-together meetings with the economically poor and gave them
gifts to celebrate Christmas.
GAMA also renders help to those who lack the finances to conduct
funeral
services of their dear ones.
Our
Needs:
From the time of its formation, the needs
of GAMA have been well satisfied by the grace of God and by the
generous contributions of well wishers. Now GAMA is in need of a
vehicle to carry the Good News to all. We are praying for
this. The approximate budget
for this vehicle is about 6,00,000 (six lakhs).
For this purpose we are approaching you to help GAMA to purchase a
vehicle which would facilitate the village ministry and make it more
effective.
